This is not a slam garys I agree with you about just wasting money on software because so much of it is either free or very cheap but on rare occasions buying it is the best solution. Linus is free and has over 80,000 free applications you can download. Computer wise I live in the Windows, Unix and Linux world. For me it would cost less in time and money (because time is money)to just buy the occasional specialty program that will give me more time to work in the shop. It would cost me more in time and I hate writing code. That would resolve the money side but not the time side. I could write a routine that would emulate the features I want on cutlist plus. In this case let's look at time and money because time is money. When it comes to most things you have trade offs to consider. As a retired systems engineer I seldom buy software.
